About Me
I'm a Ph.D Candidate at Carleton University in Sociology & Anthropology. My research focuses on the intersections between gendered violence, true crime, and popular culture. I've worked for nearly twenty years as a feminist activist and gender-based violence prevention specialist. In addition to co-founding The Spark Strategy, an innovative approach to sexual violence prevention, I'm the Senior Advisor, Gender and Sexual Violence Prevention and Support at Carleton University. I'm always ready for a debate about politics, food, or pop culture, and I value community, fearlessness, and creativity.

RESEARCH EXPERTISE
True Crime
This research, under the supervision of Dr. Mike Mopas, created an innovative methodology for true crime creators to consider how they can tell care-centred stories about gender-based violence while still reflecting the narrative style of true crime.
Popular Culture
I use Critical Discourse Analysis to examine several different true crime documentaries, particularly those that focus on cases of gendered violence.
Gendered Analysis
I am deeply committed to creating a culture of gender equity, diversity, and inclusion. My professional expertise includes DEI, program development and evaluation, and strategic visioning and planning. I have highly-developed communication skills, including media, training, and facilitation abilities, and all with an inclusive, anti-racist lens.
